Friday Night Lights tears
Earlier this week, I replied to mskatej's post about crying, saying Friday Night Lights frequently made me tear up. Yet, somehow I forgot that when I decided to watch 3.04 while premenstrual. BIG mistake! Smaaaaaash! OMG, I bawled so much. I have been really enjoying the arc of Coach giving him special training, but I didn't realise how invested I was in his journey until Coach made that determined speech for him at the college training session. Wow. I think no other plot has shown quite so deeply how committed Coach is to the boys he trains, and how he makes them into 'young men' like Tami said. I was so happy for him, and so sad that we won't see him so much, and I'm so happy for Mama Smash and his family and I know he'll work hard... and I love that the guys took him out for one last run on the home turf (but Jason should have been there), and waaaaaaaaahhh! *sniffles*

I need to make a longer FNL post about this season when I get time but I think I'm going to go hug a pillow for a while.

mskatej, now is a bad time to watch "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly", yes? (I have it on my harddrive...)

Oh, god. Smash made me cry too. I can understand why the character had to move on, and I'm so glad he got such a glorious (if bittersweet) sendoff. Aww!

Absolutely. What a wonderful tribute and ending for his character.

I know I was really surprised at how effected I was by Smash's storyline. That last scene was the perfect sendoff if you ask me.

It was so perfect, yes. This show always hits those emotional notes so well.

Oh god... I haven't watched it yet! No time to catch up on my FNL's lately. Tonight, perhaps.

Smash is such an incredible character and really representative of why this show rocks so damn hard. They took this cliche'd cocky playboy of a football star and made him this completely sympathetic character that just breaks your heart. I remember last season where they showed him breaking down in the locker room after all the other guys had left. I was SOBBING. Looking forward to seeing this one - I adore Coach, particularly when he's "fathering" his boys.

Yes, it's like that scene! Except better/more uplifting, and Coach being 110% Coach.

I just watched FNL and yes, I was in *floods* by the end, and not just because of Smash (Matt and Tami both made me cry too). I'm just so happy for him, and also really sad that we'll probably never see him again. But that beautiful big smile of his at the end... omg. *bawls*

You should probably save Diving Bell until you're less vulnerable, unless you are in the mood to have a complete breakdown. :P

Oh, yeah Matt broke my heart too--the plot with his mum is so heartbreaky.

But yes, what a send off for Smash. He's had that withdrawn worried look for weeks, so to see his wide smile back was wonderful.

FNL is so good this season. One of the few shows that just make me happy.

I cried, oh yes, I definitely cried! And i'm afraid I also got the feeling that Smash was gone for good. :(( It was a lovely send off for him but I am sad anyway. On the other hand, Jason was mysteriously absent for the first few eps of this season and then lo, he was back! So who knows?
