Emotional overload
Coming down off a massive high from Adam Lambert's Melbourne concert (despite us being a cold enough crowd that we warranted only 'Mad World' as an encore *hmph*)... The whole concert felt off-kilter, as I thought it would, what with the management stuff-ups with the venue. But anyway, I danced despite getting shushed and yelled at by old dudes around me, and got my catharsis. Adam's voice is so incredible live, but he seriously did NOT click with the crowd. (Hey, me neither, Adam! Don't judge all of Melbourne by that, please!)

It's been a rollercoaster day for me emotionally since I watched the most affecting vid I've seen all year this morning. [profile] m_a_r_i_k_s's Like O, Like H, a study of Kara's abuse at the hands of Socrata, broke me so completely I had to go to the hairdresser's with a blotchy red face from the crying. And I came back three hours later and threw myself on my bed and cried some more without even watching it again. Highly HIGHLY recommended, but watch with caution if you're sensitive to abuse.

Yeah, omg, that venue is such a massive buzzkill. It was the most pumped I've EVER seen a crowd at the Palais but we would have still seemed lukewarm compared to a stadium full of 5000 screaming fans in Auckland a few days ago... :( It's a pity because there was a lot of love for Adam in the audience--it was just massively dampened by the way the tickets got sold (everyone from a certain point back was standing and screaming the whole time but swathes of the people in front of them were sitting down--the chairs at the Palais are kind of like lounges so once you collapse back into them there's no getting up for some people!). But yeah, it still rocked. I just have to not think too much about how much better it could have been. ;)

YES THERE WERE!! Dude next to me was approx 60? He'd clearly been dragged along by wife and wife's girlfriends. But he was really into it by the end. Not into it enough to, you know, stand up. But yeah he was very impressed. :D :D :D

It really was! Though I have so many conflicted emotions about it... it feels like it could have been so much better... but at the same time it was really great. I'd natter about it way more but I feel like everyone on my f'list has already been to an Adam concert and is all 'yawn, whatevs'.

I'm glad to hear you had a good time, despite the crowd! :)

It was really to be expected, and I mainly blame the venue. But oh well... it was still Adam. :)
