GIP and various matters
Thank you for icon, norwich36!! *giggles evilly*

I'm in a pre-Christmas frenzy of activity, so this is going to be brief, but a few updates that you may or may not be interested in:
- for now conditions in Melbourne have improved (smoke cleared, temperature lowered), but the fires are still threatening to join up and form one massive front. The danger if this happens is that they could head for our water catchment areas and spoil the remaining water we have. Thursday's forecast is bleak--as bad, or worse than the weekend. The volunteers must be exhausted--they're backburning and trying to strengthen containment lines while they can. If it comes down to it, they'll abandon defense of settlements to defend the water catchments. It's that bad. *sad*
- Casino Royale! Helllooooooooo, Bond! I finally saw it and have to add my voice to all those squeeing over the extreme hotness! And the cheese was just ERASED from that movie! *reels* Favourite Bond ever.
- I have been reading. Hahum. Yes, truly I have, though I have not updated my book journal in eons. That's because I'm been re-reading so much and then OD-ing on froth in the form of Georgette Heyer novels and such nonsense. Evidently my brain is already on holiday.
- To my SV people: please do not give up on teh Clex before I make my first Clex vid. *puppy eyes at you* 'Tis in slow-but-satisfying progress, with an estimated arrival date of early Jan. It will break my heart if noone watches it. *pulls emotional blackmail on you* :-p
- Apologies to everyone who receives Xmas cards from me in January... I'm trying, really... I'm just, in Australia hopeless.

ETA: Please let this be true!

Hehehe.

Can we please talk about how hot Daniel Craig is in those swimmers? And he got an Ursula Andress type-shot in the sea because of it. He is the Bond Guy (Girl) in the movie and he completely deserves the title (G)

Also - *ahem* if you happen to find some Jason Bourne/James Bond fic, please tell me, 'cause after seeing that movie this pairing is stuck in my brain and won't let go.

PS - *fingers crossed* for good, cooler weather. Happy Xmas Frenzy!

Heee. He was SO HOT. He's not even my 'type', but I was reeling and gasping through the whole movie. I love that they sex-objectified him in this movie. And my brain was splodey having heard he thinks Bond should have a male lover in the next movie!

I'm interrupting but...

And my brain was splodey having heard he thinks Bond should have a male lover in the next movie!
really? oooh where did you hear that? And I shall join in with the Daniel Craig squeeing.

What I love is that he knows enough about Dr Who to know there's been a kiss in there without a big fuss (hehehe). I hope they let him do it. It makes sense to let him do it, dammit! :)

Heee, yes. There are rumours and counter-rumours all over the internet. And inevitable horrid homophobic backlash as well. *sigh* But yes, I found it cute that he knows about Dr Who!

svilleficrecs has, I believe, been working on a Bond/Bourne, but she's not posted anything yet. Just FYI. :-)

I'm glad you like the icon! I was saving it for your actual birthday, but when you mentioned you wanted one in Kate's journal I had a momentary fear you would acquire one before your actual birthday.

God, the fire stuff is so scary. I really hope something happens to improve this situation.

Georgette Heyer stands up to multiple rereading, I find. Lovely braincandy.

And I really, really, really can't wait for your first Clex video. YAY!!!!!!

Early birthday present is PERFECT! It's true that I've been on the verge of acquiring one... so yay! you got in in perfect time!

It's so hard to know how bad the fires will be... they're going to burn for ages yet. 40m high flames! *shudders*

GH IS lovely braincandy, it's true. I've just been in a very nostalgic mood of late, rereading my Dorothy Dunnetts as well.
Vicki: MR as jackmyownghost on December 12th, 2006 12:52 am (UTC)
thank you for the update on the fires. i hope things go better rather than worse!

i'll be sticking around for that video. :)

YAY! I'm so glad.
And yes, all we can do for now with the fires is hope for the best outcome: that they stay within the containment lines in the national parks.

What's this? Clex vid? Squeeeeeee!!!!!
K, Bop or Boppy--take your pick!: Clex weddingbop_radar on December 12th, 2006 02:01 am (UTC)
Yes! Rather than sensibly making a season 5 vid or something, I'm making the Clex vid I've always wanted... the one that perhaps noone but me would ever make. And I hereby start my begging for you to beta for me! *puppy eyes* Because the vid is a humorous take on their friendship and I'll need to know if the humour actually works or not! I mean, it's funny to me but I'm still learning so much about vidding I don't know if it's inherently funny to the viewer. Of course I should wait until I'm a better vidder before attempting my Clex epic, but I got impatient! ;-)
Talitha: Elli clex2talitha78 on December 12th, 2006 02:29 am (UTC)
Of course I'll beta. I'd love to!

HOOORAY! \o/

It will take me some time since I keep playing back the couple of lines I've laid down and giggling rather than getting on with it... no, actually, I'm making surprising progress just because I'm an addict and am sneaking time off just about every other activity in my life to vid instead.
Talitha: vval clex bubbletalitha78 on December 12th, 2006 06:58 pm (UTC)
I keep playing back the couple of lines I've laid down and giggling rather than getting on with it

Hee. That is so me. I amuse myself greatly when vidding. :D

Your descent into vidding addiction delights me. Yes.

Oh, and I don't think you have to worry too much about an audience for a Clex vid. Even if people hate the show, they'll still line up to see a funny Clex vid, or heck--any funny vid for that matter. People like vids, quite apart from whether or not they watch the show. I don't watch SGA, but I still loved darlulu's latest SGA vid. Because it was pretty and well-done, and she seems to "see" vids the same way I do. Plus, new fans are entering the arena all the time. Look at long-dead shows like Highlander and Due South. They still get tons of new fans. So, yeah, no worries on that front. :D

... er, that came out dirtier than I intended. :D

Yay for rereading(one of my favorite kinds of reading!)and BOND! OMG, so so hot. I agree, it was the best of all.

The mail is so weird. My card made it to New Zealand in no time at all, but still hasn't gotten to you in Australia. That makes NO SENSE. So, yeah, the way the mail goes, I might get your card in March!

The mail is WEIRD. Who knows? It could be there next week! *throws hands up in confusion*

Ohhhhhh yeah! I went to see it with two (straight) boys so I had to keep my fangirl squee lidded, but there were two girls behind me going CRAZY over every hot moment, especially the torture scene. My personal favourite moment was 'do I look like someone that cares?!' I loved all those little touches to show he was his pre-Bond self. And I loved that she dressed him, not just him dressing her! ;-)

Out of curiosity would you recommend Georgette Heyer's historical fiction or detective fiction? Any particularly good book by her that you though was just outstanding?
K, Bop or Boppy--take your pick!: books!!bop_radar on December 12th, 2006 07:49 am (UTC)
I don't really read detective fiction--I've tried to get into the genre many times but it just never grabs me--so I've only read her historical fiction. I'd recommend Thursday's Child and The Great Sophy.

I just wanted to drop by and say: OHMYGOD thank you SO much for introducing me to Georgette Heyer!!! I haven't read either of the two you recommended since they haven't come from the library yet but I read two others and I am in love with her as much as I was with Jane Austen.

Also, I am doubly happy about you introducing me to her works because its the holidays and I WANT to read a lot but I just couldn't get into anything and now suddenly I want to go to a shop and buy all of Heyer's books, which is probably unhealthy for my wallet if any shop near me atually had her books but it's great news for my book-loving mind!

p.s. I love your icon.

you have a flatrate with a dl volume limit ?!?!
wow, i did not even know it still exists. in germany, the provider companies are carrying the competition over the speed, but not over the volume :)
like if you take 1 , 2 , 3 , 6, 16, or even 50 (!!!!) MB of download/upload speed, it will shown in the price.
imagine !! 50 MB !! you could have a movie of 700 MB in 6 or 7 minutes!!!
*dreammmsss*

well, the copy i had is not very good anyway, if there is a dvd screener in the near future, I will let you know :)
