Two quick things
1. I feel I should report that the Vividcon DVDs took my SGA-vid-watching virginity. I've resisted a loooong time, but it just happened, ok?! DON'T JUDGE ME! There are now officially no shows which I won't watch vids of. *headdesk* Also, um, I might have enjoyed some of them more than SPN vids. *blush* So, er, those of you who have previously tried to pimp SGA vids to me: the door is now open. Oh, and, um, more vid recs soon. :D

2. I have a question! What is your favourite dance track? You can interpret this two ways: either what is the track that will always get you on the dance floor and/or can you think of a dance track that is actually good (i.e. the macarena does NOT count)? Any/all responses appreciated.

Have we mentioned the snark? And the crack that is canon? And the perfection that is Radek Zelenka as a supporting character? (I love a good supporting character - they're so often neglected.)

The most important vid... okay, there are several. First, Stress, a fantastic Rodney character vid by Rache and Sandy. (That's the IMEEM, there's a download link available but that's for a flocked post or email)

Second is The Writer by suzvoy, which transformed the way I see vids. Essentially a self-contained SGA AU, John is a writer who's been inspired by the work of a movie actor. The vid seamlessly incorporates footage from several movies Joe Flannigan and David Hewlett have acted in as well as SGA through "Grace Under Pressure". Fantastic.

Then there's the incomparable Mission Report by lim. A Teyla character vid, I did a quasi-review of it in this post. Lim wrote/sang the song that accompanies the vid, which incorporates footage from The Blue Planet and is entirely gorgeous.

*blinks* Well, I have to go get ready for work now. *grin*

Hahahah! *g* I didn't say I would watch the show. ;-p But thank you for the recs! I will definitely watch both of those. I often enjoy great vids of shows I'm not into, but I've been stubbornly resisting SGA vids for so long. Now a whole new world opens up...

Favourite dance track... would have to be Moby "Extreme ways" although I don't know if that counts as dance track or Moby's "Right hre, right now" (the song from Veronica Mars episode where she finds out who the Hearst rapist is) or "Where's your head at" by Chemical brothers.

Cool! thanks! I thought 'Right here, right now' was a Fatboy Slim track--but I don't know VM so perhaps I'm just not familiar with the Moby track.

Dance song?

Would have to be the Slinkee Minx cover of "Summer Rain"... or Goldfrapp's cover of "Yes Sir I Can Boogie", it's subdued in a way only they can manage... but you can't help but want to move.
K, Bop or Boppy--take your pick!: Ericabop_radar on August 26th, 2007 04:02 am (UTC)
Oh, I don't know the first one--thanks. And yeah, Goldfrapp have very sneaky ways of making you bounce. ;)

I don't even like dancing, but Full Frontal's version of "You Think You're a Man" gets me groovin' around the apartment. I can pretend I'm in a gay disco, which is fun. :)

Also, I will always, always dance to Outkast's "Hey Ya" and Britney's "Toxic" and of course SEXYBACK.
K, Bop or Boppy--take your pick!: Roslin Kara yaybop_radar on August 26th, 2007 04:04 am (UTC)
Heee! That's perfect. Thanks! And yes, I'd agree with Sexyback, though it's actually very hard for me to dance to--it doesn't match my dancing style at ALL. Consequently I look like an idiot when I attempt to dance to it.

Excellent SGA vid here:

http://hollywoodgrrl.livejournal.com/54193.html

I recced it in my recent VVC post. Also, lim's SGA vids are very experimental and visually interesting. newkidfan has a couple along the same experimental lines. mamoru22 has some good ones, too.

My favorite dance track is an oldie, but goodie. "Brick House" by the Commodores. I can't NOT move to that song.

Hmm. I think my favorite dance tracks are mostly from the 80s, and I'm not sure I want to admit what they are. :D

I assume one of the SGA vids from Vividcon you watched was "We built this city", right? (I think talitha78 recced it, so she probably has a link if you haven't seen it--I personally thought it was completely hilarious).

Yes, that was one of the ones I watched. And I had to admit to liking it so it was best to come out of the closet. ;)

I really liked My Brilliant Idea by lim.

I've never seen a single Stargate episode or know any of the characters, yet I had a great time watching this!

Oooh, dance music. I used to go clubbing a lot and there were quite a few song that would drag me out on the floor. But the biggest ones were Tainted Love by Soft Cell and almost anything by Erasure.

*dances*

I loooove to dance. A few favorites: Just like a Prayer - Madonna, You Can Leave Your Hat On - Tom Jones; Just about anything by Prince, Closer by NIN, Pink has quite a few that make me move too.

K, Bop or Boppy--take your pick!: Legsbop_radar on August 26th, 2007 06:01 am (UTC)
Nice! Yes, Pink is very bouncy/infectious. She sucks me in. And classic Madonna is definitely reliable too. I'm very comfortable dancing to NIN since a lot of the clubs I first went out to were goth/industrial so my dancing's pretty well-tuned to that era.

I love to dance too. I have lots of favourites but bizarre love triangle by new order never fails to get me dancing anytime, anywhere - it's completely infectious.

If you haven't already fallen for it, you can check it out here.

I don't know about good dance track... but I've got a handful of dance/techno type tunes on my HD, waiting for me to work up the nerve to try and produce a vid to something I don't listen too much as far as music goes ;) If you want samples, let me know and I'll d some uploading...
K, Bop or Boppy--take your pick!: KK dorky lovebop_radar on August 26th, 2007 11:36 am (UTC)
Hee! Did you guess that I was asking for vid-related reasons? I actually have quite a lot of dance tracks from my youthful clubbing days but I got to thinking about dance tracks and how they're really different to different people--what makes one person get up and dance is completely blah to someone else. It just made me curious...
Beck: sga - mckay brilliant by _gater_beck_liz on August 26th, 2007 01:36 pm (UTC)
One of my favorite SGA vids is actually to instrumental music, but it's soooo pretty. It's the second one from the top here.

A fun one for fans which... not being a fan you may not enjoy is mamoru22's Cartoon Heroes, which can be found on Imeem (at the bottom) or on her webpage. It's a mix of SGA & SG-1, including a bunch of behind-the-scenes stuff. It's a lot of fun.

Finally, I recommend astolat's Bohemian Like You, which can be found on her website or at Imeem.

Hope this helps!
