Amusing things
I am in an extremely good mood. Why? Because fandom is providing me with many giggles.

dionusia wrote me giggly, tickly Kara/Lee for oxoniensis's 'Hugs, Cuddles and Kisses' ficathon. It's so great! Ticklish pilots = love! :-D (ETA: Ohhh, long version posted in her journal. *G*)

You should also check out her BSG crackpoetry, for it is very amusing indeed and should be encouraged! *nods* And bitterlatinist has written a Anders/Lee limerick. Is crack!poetry the new black? o.O

bitterlatinist is also responsible for linking me up with a very amusing Laura/Lee telenovela.

I'm completely addicted to martoufmarty's Sims 'Whores Family' saga: Part One, Part two, Part three. I was shipping Sylar and Apollo but apparently Sylar really really hates Apollo (hee!). Mohinder, Peter, Jack and Boone get up to much mischief too. And Lee mopes and apologises a lot. *hearts* :-p

On the not-so-cheery (but still silly) side of things, I am pissy that Tom appears to be losing his big showdown with Wentworth.

Anyway, I promised to rec some Smallville crackfic or humourfic to the uninitiated (and nameless, in case they want their identities kept secret ;)), so this is the most super-speedy reccing I've ever done, but off the top of my head:
Wabbit hunting by my very own supacat (someone turns into a rabbit, I'm not giving away who)
Hideaway by rivkat (Clark and Lex on holiday--from a 'Lois and Clark' plot originally)
Switch by rivkat (Clark and Lex bodyswap fic)
The Els of Krypton by mahaliem (Clark's Kryptonian parents struggle with his... er... issues)
Secrets, Lies and Misunderstandings by mahaliem (Lex overhears something and takes it the wrong way)
Revenge by astolat (comics!Lex gets cranky)
Dirty Campaigning by belmanoir (SV/Colbert report crossover)

You know what else is amusing? Doctor Who! Which I am about to watch right now. Whee!! *moseys*

Yeah, Sam's a crowd-pleaser, Lee's for those with a little more refined tastes. ;-) Lee's fans would be earnest types (who sekritly want to jump him), while Sam would get more of the obvious demonstrative fangirling.

Oh, Lee! :-)

Happy dreams!

I think I came here to say something important about Lee's band and My Bloody Valentine but I found myself transfixed by that icon of yours and I think I also fainted. Then I woke up with the laptop on my lap and I saw it again and the cycle repeated.

HAHAHA. It worked! \o/ *wins*

I used to use this one a lot until I realised that people couldn't cope... but I dug it out specially yesterday. :-)

Maybe if this icon were animated and the towel dropped maybe I'd have a chance. Oh no wait, you have it too. *loses*

What was I saying? Oh yeah. Right. My husband (who's even Lee-er than I am) says maybe Elliot Smith would be good. Or My Bloody Valentine, or "Planet Telex" by Radiohead.

Oh no! See, you throw that challenge down... and see what you get?! *runs and hides*

Oh, ok, I will check out both Elliot Smith and My Bloody Valentine (both of whom I know in passing, but perhaps should inspect more closely). And ohhh, I like the 'Planet Telex' idea.

HAVE MERCY! I'm already beaten! Aaaaaa!

Oh. My. A delicious defeat. Ahem.

OK, so my husband M., bitterlatinist and I are sitting around listening to all these songs and getting pretty drunk and trying to figure out which ones to rec to you. Obviously this is just “throw out tons of ideas” time, right? Although we’re happy that the Radiohead song is in the running!

M. is very excited that Lee will be getting a proper tribute. He’s very into this. Esp. if Lee kicking some ass is featured. But now he says maybe Elliot Smith is perhaps too emo, although he is tempted by other shoegazers like the Verve.

Here’s a more specific song by My Bloody Valentine in case you want to check them out: “Sometimes” -- Kind of slow, but thrummy, so it still rocks. bitterlatinist suggests “Love Burns” by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Well that sounds like an extremely pleasant way to pass the time! ;-) I may be forced to follow suit... although getting drunk on my own and listening to Lee-like songs isn't quite the same... oh, wait! I've done that already. *headdesk*

(Btw, I'm envious of you having a husband who likes Lee. My partner's favourite character is... wait for it... Chief. *facepalm* I find Chief yawn-enducing in the extreme and I ain't ever going to vid him!)

I will definitely check your recs out. But you see what I mean about TOO emo?! It's like you think it'll be ok and then you realise that there's a danger of vidding in an extremely literal way and... no... Lee deserves something more subtle.

The Verve could be contenders... I like the Verve! Oh, but yes, Lee must kick ass. This has got to be as much about Lee's strength as his issues.

Yes, I do see what you mean. A monumentous and rather tricky task, but I'm sure you'll figure out something great in the end! All that Lee devotion can't be for nothing.

Sometimes I think M. IS Lee, just in a different body. When I said that he was Leemo and so was I, I really meant it. But then I feel Karaish sometimes too and tease him about his Lee-like uptightness. Hmm. I probably shouldn't go there...

And hey, the Chief can be cool! I love his labor-union speechifying. Maybe next season he'll finally see Boomer again and ditch Cally and you'll end up loving him. :D

I will figure something out, yes. *nods* I have to gather all the requisite footage first anyway, as I want good high-quality files of Season 2 and 3 in order to do him justice. So this will be some time in the coming, but hopefully worth the wait.

Sometimes I feel like I'm Lee, so I sympathise/empathise/understand. ;) My Kara person is my long-time best friend supacat. She's so Kara, it's ridiculous. Recently we had a tiff in which I finally confronted her about standing me up on a couple of occasions. And afterwards, after we'd got over it, I realised how Lee-like (pissy and hurt) I was in that argument, and she said she'd had to bite back her Kara-like part because when I confronted her she'd pretty much wanted to a) flee, b) fight. Thankfully we (just) avoided punching each other. ;)

She used to watch with me and explain Kara's actions to me (for I was as perplexed as Lee), and vice versa, but she's bailed recently finding the whole myth-arc thing too much. Alas!

I don't know about the Chief... he was cooler with Boomer, but not cool enough. My boy's about as different from me as you can get, so I'm used to having completely different taste to me. He is very calming to be around, however, so I would not change him. ;) (Even if I snark about his 'boring' taste!)
Dionusia: lee twitterpateddionusia on April 18th, 2007 04:57 am (UTC)
Aw, it's too bad your Kara-friend won't watch BSG anymore. But that story really resonated with me. Heh. It's funny how many connections you can make between the reasons behind one's fannishness for certain characters and one's own life. I mean, I'm sure lots of viewers do that all the time, but I think if you're a mega-fan you end up reflecting on it a hell of a lot more.

M. is at least a bit more unflappable than Lee (which is good, because when I get going I can be as cranky as Lee AND Kara combined!). Calming influences are good.

he was cooler with Boomer, but not cool enough.

Well, of course he's no Lee Adama or anything. ;)

Yes, I miss my Kara friend. :-( But it's brought me closer to fandom, because I still need others to explain Kara! And yes, if you are a mega-fan, there is inevitably a lot of self-reflection.

I'm glad M. is more unflappable. Such a nice attribute! I am zenning with age, I think; it takes a lot for me lose it, but when I do it's not pretty. And since I broke up with boy for a year and a half and he patiently waited it out, I'd have to say that he plays a calm 'Lee' to my volatile 'Kara' more than I deserve. *g*

Hee! Sometimes it IS more comfortable there. ;-)

And he really is a sweetheart. Even two years after getting back together I still freak out and remember what I did to him, how much I hurt him and I start apologising again but he's always super calm about it and says it's ok because I came back and I'm a duffer to worry about it.

My Lee side was still in evidence in that break up though: the day I was going to break up with him he sent me roses at work. I sobbed. I still broke up with him, but I kept the roses hanging on my door and occasionally got drunk and cried over them. ;-) I thought I was doing the 'right' thing though it hurt me. That seems very Lee, right? ;-)

Oh, yes, very Lee. And he's very sweet. *hugs you*
